The brand Syska is synonymous with led lights, and we have seen quite a few TVadverts too. What was surprising was that they have their version of a Smartlight which went totally under the radar. I Was surprised when I noticed a listing on Amazon and with the price quite lower than the Philips HUE which is what I was actually searching for, this looked promising.
The Smartlight on first glance, doesn’t look that different from other bulbs out there. It fits into a standard bulb holder, which is quite helpful. The bulb provides 480 lumens of brightness and is rated at 7 watts, also it promises a lifespan of 25000 hours.
Now for the smart part, the bulb is controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth and supports up to 3 million colors using either the Android or iOS app. Yes, there is no remote included, everything has to be controlled via your smart-device only.
The app can be downloaded by searching for Syska Rainbow LED on the Google Play or Apple App Store, or by scanning the QR code provided in the manual. The control range is around 10 meters, which is quite good. The bulb when first switched on cycles between the many colors it supports. The app starts off with a color wheel also has other modes available to change the bulb color. We can select any color via the color wheel, also present are modes where we can select a color from an image, or other games like heart beat, roar and bomber etc
The bulb can also be set to intimate us when we receive a call or a SMS. The bulb connected quite easily, but lost connection also just as easily. Overall it’s a unique smartlight available on Amazon at Rs 1,999, but on offer I picked it up for Rs 1099. Make sure to check out the links below if you want to snag yourselves one.
