If you have a phone that supports wireless charging, you might want to consider getting the Samsung Wireless Charging Convertible pad/stand
This new accessory from Samsung was launched alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+ but is compatible with any phone that supports the QI charging standard. This charger sadly doesn’t include the charging brick, but Samsung expects you to use the one supplied with your phone. That’s ok for Galaxy S8 users, who have a USB -C charging cable but what about people who don’t.
Fret not, Samsung has included a micro-usb to usb-c converter in the box. So if you have a S6, or an S7, you can still use this charger with your existing cable.
The S6 and S7 charging brick supports adaptive fast charging, so you can use the fast charging capabilities of the wireless charger using those.
Samsung has made wireless charging pads before, but this is the first one that can convert from a pad to a stand.
The charging pad has a soft leatherette feel, this protects the phone from scratches, and also provides some grip preventing the phone from slipping off.
The conversion between the stand mode and pad mode is easy. Pull back, pullup and it’s a stand. Push down and push in, its now a pad. The hinge is pretty sturdy and doesn’t collapse when you set it upright.
The charger uses a USB-C connector, and in the front you will find an LED, indicating if the device is charging or not. It stays unlit, until you place a device on it, and it turns blue when charging.
The charger has a cooling fan, which automatically activates when it’s charging a device. This keeps the charger and the device cool.
Wireless charging is generally slower than connecting the device to a wall charger.
The charger is not too picky, where you lay the phone, but try to place it as close to the centre as you can.
Wireless charging is still a luxury , and is fairly expensive, but the convenience of just plopping your phone onto the charger, without any wires to fiddle with especially in the middle of the night.
