Updating Nikon Z6 Firmware

Nikon Z6 firmware update

Nikon Z6 firmware update

As soon as I noticed a new firmware was available for the Nikon z6 I wanted to update it.

So as intuition would suggest, we connect the camera with the provided USB-c cable,

attach the other end to the pc.

And we have access to camera.

As instructions suggest we copy the firmware we downloaded off the Nikon firmware site to the root of the memory card. We open the drive and copy the file across.

Hmm, something’s wrong here, we cant copy to the root of the memory card. I will need a XQD card reader for this.

I had to wait a few days as i needed to purchase one.

So this is the SONY QDA-SB1 XQD card reader. It cost around Rs 2,500.

Remove card from the camera and insert into the reader.

Use the extension cable provided, connect to the pc.

Drive pops up on pc.

`yes, the drive is now available on the pc.’

Copy the file to the root of the memory card.

Remove card from reader, place into the camera.

Settings, firmware version setting.

Currently its at 1.0 for both.

There’s a new option below, update firmware.

Tap or press ok using the button and it starts to update.

We get a message to restart the camera

Check firmware version again and we’re on version 2

The reason I upgraded the firmware is for the eye detection auto focus.

So that’s how you update the firmware, hope this helps you out.
